2008 Porsche Cayman GTR WIDEBODY

During my visit to the 2017 Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance there was also the Porsche Werks Reunion just one fairway away! Being a Porsche Cayman S owner myself now, it was hard not to keep my eyes peeled for special Cayman builds. One build in particular not only caught my eye, but also my soul! This build comes to us thanks to Road Scholars in Durham, North Carolina. Owner: Danny Omasta. Specs are as follows:

Body

Custom mixed BASF paint in “Burgundy” color inspired by our 1949 Porsche 356 Gmund restoration
911 GT3RS front clip conversion
Hand fabricated all metal “Wide body” treatment to doors and quarter panels (9-inch total wide body flair)
Custom made 1 of 1 rear bumper to fit widened quarter panels
Shaved Roof Rails
2016 GT4 wing in carbon fiber
GT3RS cup car front lip hand made in carbon fiber
Carbon Fiber side mirrors and quarter panel vents
Shaved rear hatch
CNC machined custom Cayman GTR sill plates and floor panels
Color matched front Headlamps with LED update

I gathered a selection of my favorite photos from most of my specific Porsche photo shoots going back to the beginning of my shooting career. I am very grateful for already having the opportunities to photograph such a diverse number of cars from one of my all-time favorite brands. Amazingly, all of these Porsche shoots have been done IN Minnesota! Wha? All of this goodness in one state? 2017 Goal: Shoot a commissioned gig with a Porsche out of state.

Lake Superior – Fall Drive

Being asked to photograph multi-day driving events in the peak of the Fall colors up the coast of Lake Superior with a group of super cars never gets boring. This was the Auto Vault’s second annual fall drive with several more planned for next year alone!
I never get bored of being a Minnesota car photographer with jobs like this, especially when we end up in Grand Marais with a Lamborghini Huracan, Audi R8 V10, McLaren 650S, Audi RS7 sedan, Porsche Cayman GT4, and Bentley Continental GT V8 S.
We got into town with only an hour to go before sunset and instantly attracted a crowd. Being a car photographer, naturally I started scoping out a great angle to photograph the car at with the Minnesota sunset in the background. I lined up the Lamborghini and added in the Audi R8 shortly after for some great shots.

HRE Performance Wheels – Porsche 918 Spyder

Over the summer of 2016 I was hired by HRE Wheels to photographer a special car here in Minnesota. The car is a Porsche 918 Spyder. While only 918 were ever made, three of them are here in MN and all owned by a single owner. This particular 918 I have photographed before while in its original blue state. The car has since gained many thousands of miles on the clock, HRE Wheels, and a matte black Martini vinyl wrap.

Road Trip With The Astonishing GT4

One company I have the pleasure of working closely with is the Auto Vault in Eagan Minnesota. The Auto Vault is unique in that they bring some very cool opportunities to both the car community and to anyone who has an interest in luxury/exotic cars. Mischa, the owner of AV, makes a point to always have some of the greatest cars available to experience in a variety of ways through his company. From one day rentals to track experiences to ‘Fantasy Drive’ which let you experience all five of the cars over the span of a weekend on some great roads!

Having formed a trustworthy relationship with AV, Mischa was gracious enough to lend me my personal favorite car of the bunch, the Porsche Cayman GT4, for a weekend! I decided to take it up to my hometown of Ely Minnesota and hit every great road between here and there. Results:

2016 Chicago Auto Show – Chicago Illinois

At this year’s Chicago Auto Show there were many cars and MANY people. No, I was not there on press day. However, the brand that totally brought their A-game was BMW. They had a flurry of new technology on display as well has a couple long awaited M models including the BMW M2 and M4 GTS. No matter what, its always exciting to get out and see some new cars during the cold winters here in the upper midwest.

Holy Porsche Trinity

When the chance to photograph a brand new Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche GT3 RS, and Singer 911 on an airstrip comes around, you say yes. Absolutely, definitely, unequivocally yes!

This shoot took place here in Minnesota on a quite airstrip with two very noisy cars and one electric car. Consider yourself lucky if you ever see one of these cars, to see all three together is really impossible.
